Today's photo comes from the platform of Cochrane Station July 4th as 423 Conductor Shawn runs through the final preparations before giving the "Blow n' Go" order to today's Head End Crew Mike & Neil. If you look carefully between the tripod and the people standing next to it, you can see today's Assistant Conductor Jason also awaiting the  order.

From the Pic of the Day Archives: April 29, 2017.

We're at Cochrane April 28th where we see ONR Bar Car 1410 and Snack Car 1408 (both originally built by CC&F in 1954) rolling through the south end of the yard for the very last time as part of the tonnage of southbound 414. These 2 cars are part of a 4 car acquisition (which includes Dining Car 1409 and Coach 842) by the York Durham Heritage Railway based out of Uxbridge, Ontario that happened earlier this year. YDHR is also the proud owner of former ONR RS3 1310. For more info on the York Durham Heritage Railway and what they do, visit www.ydhr.ca.

Here's a little something that I found interesting on CN Test RDC 1501 on its overnight tie down at Cochrane June 4, 2019. Each set of horns on either end of the unit have this little socks on them. Now I don't know the official reason for these little socks to be placed on the horns but I'm thinking this is to prevent snow and ice from clogging them. Talk amongst yourselves.
